BIS Registration Process
The process of obtaining BIS registration for laptops, notebooks, and tablets involves the following steps:
Step 1: Manufacturer
Listing: The manufacturer's details need to be included in the BIS. There
are two scenarios:
a) Domestic Manufacturer: The
domestic manufacturer can list themselves directly.
b) Foreign Manufacturer: A foreign
manufacturer must appoint an authorized Indian representative. To do so, he can
simply hire the services of one of the reliable BIS certification consultants in India.
Step 2: Application
Filing: The manufacturer must file a BIS application, ensuring that all the
required documents are attached.
Step 3: Test
Reports: The product must be submitted to a BIS-certified laboratory for
testing. The lab will generate a test report, which should be included with the
application.
Step 4: Scrutiny:
Once the application is submitted, the BIS will review it for any
discrepancies. If any errors or omissions are found, the manufacturer will be
notified to rectify them.
Step 5: Grant
of Certification: If there are no errors in the application, the BIS will
grant the certification to the manufacturer. The certification will be assigned
an eight-digit number.
It is important to follow these steps
diligently to ensure compliance with BIS requirements for laptops and tablets.
